Mom to Mom Chat.com > Signature Lines on the Forums

Revised January 25, 2007

Your signature line is great place to share small photos of you and your family. We love seeing them and we're glad that you want to share! So that we can all enjoy these wonderful photos, here are the new guidelines for placing photos in your signature line on the forums.

What is Allowed:
Up to three still images that are no larger than 160 x 160 pixels in dimension and 60 KB in file size. These smaller images will help speed up the download time of the boards, reduce the amount of scrolling we have to do to see your photos and reduce the number of computer freeze-ups many have been experiencing.

What is Not Allowed:
Fill loops, film strips, slide shows, tickers, any code that causes a pop-up or links to any site that is in violation of our TOS, or images larger than 160 x 160 pixels in dimension.

Why Are These No Longer Allowed?
Fill loops, film strips, slide shows, and tickers, are all drawn from other servers. When a thread contains more than two or three of these items, it causes computer freeze-ups and/or slows down your ability to view a thread. This has become especially troublesome for members using slower Internet connections. We want all of you to be able to enjoy the forums without experiencing any of these issues.

There are several sites that allow you to upload and link your photos. Here are a few that our members have used:

Please follow their instructions on how to upload and store photos. Once you have your photos stored on-line somewhere, in a few simple steps, you can show them off in your signature line.

To place your images three in a row, copy/paste the following HTML code into your signature line area in your Mom to Mom Chat.com comtrol panel.

<table>
<tr>
<td><img src="http://urlofyourimage.com" height="160" width="160" border="0"></td>
<td><img src="http://urlofyourimage.com" height="160" width="160" border="0"></td>
<td><img src="http://urlofyourimage.com" height="160" width="160" border="0"></td>
</tr
>
</table>

Replace the red text with the URL of your image, keeping the "parenthesis" in tact.

To keep your image 160 x 160, keep the rest of the code as it is.

If your image is smaller than that or out of proportion, remove the height and width numbers or replace them with the actual size of your image making sure that it is no larger than 160 x 160. If you do not have 3 images, delete everything in bold for those images that you do not need.

Your images will now appear in the forums something like this:

If you wish to include some text underneath your photos, you can do it one of two ways.

1) For text under each photo, copy/paste the code below into your sig line area, making the necessary changes as stated above to place your photos in there:

<table>
<tr>
<td><img src="http://urlofyourimage.com" height="160" width="160" border="0">
<br>
Your text goes here</td>
<td><img src="http://urlofyourimage.com" height="160" width="160" border="0">
<br>
Your text goes here</td><td><img src="http://urlofyourimage.com" height="160" width="160" border="0">
<br>
Your text goes here</td>
</tr
>
</table>

Replace the blue bold text with your own, and it will look something like this:

At Niagara Falls

Sunset on Lake Ontario

A Graduate!

2) For text under the entire set, below the last table tag - </table> - add this:

<p>Your text goes here

It should look something like this:

At Niagara Falls

Sunset on Lake Ontario

A Graduate!
